The AirGun Technology AGT Vixen .177 cal PCP Air Rifle - Hawke Optics Vantage 1-4x20 Set-Up & Review
In this video PJ has mounted the Hawke Optics Vantage IR 1-4x20 scope with the "Turkey Dot" reticle and walks through the process of confirming the zero at multiple distances in anticipation of an iguana hunt.
In the process he shows groups at 15, 20, 25 and 30 yards, performs a trigger pull test and talks through the features...both pro's and cons.
If you haven't seen the first series on this pre-charged pneumatic airgun please be sure to check it out as some details about the tune vary from what you will find in a factory direct version. The tune on this one is getting about 40 fps above stock, and as a result the shot count is a bit lower than what the some retailers claim.
ua-cam.com/video/wdgnwcuTW_Y/v-deo.htmlsi=RbXFODPg-1ti70jD
One thing not mentioned in the video is the airgun's overall weight. With the Hawke mounted, it's between 6-6.5 pounds on the postal scale. Very nice for walking around looking for Iguanas.
This video was filmed on a closed, private range with all applicable safety measures in place. The subject of the video is an air powered pellet rifle. No firearms are shown, displayed, fired or otherwise used in this video.

Tuning Secrets of the AGT Vixen PCP Airgun, a Compact .177 Caliber Backyard Friendly Pellet Pusher
Переглядів 2,1 тис.Місяць тому
The Vixen from AGT, or Air Gun Technology, is a pre-charged pneumatic rifle that has been on my radar for a while, so when the chance to put one through its paces appeared, I pounced. I was planning to do my regular Box to Bench treatment on it, but the unit that was available had been a demo unit and wasn't shooting at the specified velocity. I could, however, take it home from the Rocky Mount...

As I've send before, I really enjoy your work. You are easy to understand (audio-wise) and don't "rush things. So I have a RAW Micro in .22 and I love it with 15.89 JSB at 790 fps and 22 ft pounds. I( am a real "fan" DonnyFL and have a Ronin (for my Panthera 600mm in .22), a Yokozuna in .22 on my FX Hunter Compact in .22 and Ryu on my RAW Micro in .22. So, if I am not mistaken, you ented up with Ryu and 2 baffles in RAW Micro in .177 (.22 cal Ryu). So does that imply that the most accurate configuration on my Micro is 2 baffles inasmuch as my RAW Micro is .22 ? I have FX Panthera Hunter in .22, Brocock/Brk Atomic XR in .22 and RAW Micro in .22. Each is very accurate but my overall favorite is the RAW Micro in .22 for accuracy and build quality. I made no changes out of the box with my Micro and it was perfection in all respects as it came out of the box, no changes to anything, using the 15.89 JSB pellet. I have never had that out of the box experience with anything other than the RAW Micro. I usually have to spend 1 day and hundreds of pellets to tune my other PCPs. I am looking into putting a 24" RAW .22 cal barrel on my Micro for versatility. I am waiting for a response from RAW. Your thoughts on this? Again, thanks for your great videos.

First, thank you. Second, I'm not convinced that my results with this airgun/moderator combo will extend to other calibers of the same airgun. I'd like to think it's a good starting point. If you have a .22 I'd use a .25 Ryu. Third, a new barrel, especially switching from a shrouded barrel with it's own stripper to a "plain" barrel is a different animal entirely and I have no data on how that would work out. Fourth, RAW puts a lot of work into each airgun before they go out. I think you are seeign the results of that care.

@@WiscAirGunners. Hi, thanks for the quick response. I currently have 2 of these on order at pellet shop .25 compact. .30 SLS. Quick story, I am a 66 yo guy, when I was a lot younger. We shot 22 lr, few hand guns, etc. Move to a different part of the state kinda never has opportunity, place to shoot, still have all my rifles and hand guns 8-10 rifles , 15 - 20 hand guns, so I have always had an interest in shooting/ guns. Back a couple years ago, here on UA-cam I bumped into air gunning. When I was a kid I had a BB gun that you could throw the BB almost as far as it would shoot. These newer generation of air rifles are crazy , so I bought a couple just for plinking some, ratchet ahead a year or so, now I have 40 plus rifles, some Hi line rifles, Daystate, FX, Western, Brocock, Wienrauch, and some mid range guns, JTS, Air Venturi, Umarex, AEA, Evanix, Gamo and I am sure I have forgotten a couple. Also built as gun room, range in my basement and currently working on upgrading my backyard range. So you could say that I am HOOKED / ADDICTED. I am surprised that this sport is not bigger than it is. Just the fact that you can shoot in your backyard and or in your basement, or big garage, none of which you can do with powder burners. I keep saying I am done (at least for a while) buying more rifles, but here we are ordering two of these new Karma rifles. This darn UA-cam has cost me a small fortune, but having a blast doing. I follow some of your air gun partners, and have 2-3 other favorites that I follow as well. Good luck with you new offerings. Thanks again

Notice at 9: 50 there is a edit . He had to stop the video because he forgot to get the grease out of the barrel and it sounded like a 22 rim fire went off after he fired the gun and the pellet speed was over 1,000 fps . You never ever take a air gun from the box to the bench without cleaning out the grease from the barrel first . This step take about 30 minutes and 100 patches to get free of grease . I don't know why he didn't tell people you have to do this step instead of just editing it out . Its better to look bad and show you messed up in hopes it will help other people that is watching this video and are new to air guns . I know there are hundreds of long time shooter who were crossing their fingers in hope he would clean the guns barrel or at least tell about the step . But no he went and just loaded a pellet . I know what was going to happen and sure enough there it was , the edit . He tried his best to get back in the same spot but as you can see the bag and his body are not the same . This is for all new shooters of air guns . The 1st rule is never cock and fire the gun without a pellet in it. In the manual they call it dry firing . The 2nd rule is always clean out all the grease in the barrel before you take that first shot . Shame on you Wisconsin airgunners for editing that part out .

@@sandyschupper8401 I can’t speak to the Atomic. I haven’t shot one. I do have experience with the Panthera Hunter Compact. The Micro is smaller, has a more adjustable back-end, has a simpler internal design and a better trigger out of the box. The HC is intended to be more adjustable, and as a result has more failure points. Both shoot well, neither are designed as extreme long range airguns. They have different feature sets that I suspect appeal to different people based on their needs.

@@WiscAirGunners first I want to tell you how thankful I am for the great videos you do. I have all three. My atomic and my Hunter compact have folding and fully adjustable butt stocks. I’m surprised, given the very small air capacity of the atomic that it gets the same amount of shots per fill as a much larger, five times larger supply of the micro. I love all three. They are all very, very accurate at 50 yards. I am really put off by the high price $109 for Brocock magazine and $79 for the micro magazine. The micro was incredible out of the box with no tuning required or desired. I usually have to spend a day in a few hundred pellets to tune my other PCP. Not so with the micro. I really appreciate the modularity of the Panthera and I also had a a 600 mm Panthera with dual bottles. They’re all in 22 caliber but I’ll be putting a 30 caliber barrel and shroud on my 600 mm.

Hi, UK vixen owner here. I bought mine a few months back as I was finding my hw100k a little heavy and wanted something lighter so after handling the vixen I bought it. Absolutely love it. A couple of minor negatives. No fill port dust plug...come on agt. Easily rectified though via ebay so no big deal. The plastic handguard really should be metal of some sort but apart from those two things....superb. An interesting thing I found accidentally is that I initially fitted the lowest scope mounts I could using a 44mm objective lens scope but found the head placement uncomfortable so bought some high mounts which were much more comfortable for me but I found that this mounting height allowed me to aim dead on give or take a mm or 2 from 20-35 yards with a 25 yrd (peak trajectory) zero using jsb 8.44s sub 12ft/lbs. I'm guessing that this is due to the scope height giving a sightline down the trajectory of the pellet as it drops.

PJ, first off great vids. I love the idea of compact air guns. I have been looking at the Krate and the Panthera hunter. I've also seen a tease from UA of a Dynamic compact take down 350mm barrel that fits in a molded briefcase. Getting back to the Vixen most of the videos are 2-3 years old, thank you for the most current installs. Can you do a video on the available upgrades and were to find them? Such as carbon fiber shroud, metal hand Garde, and extended pic rail. Again, enjoy all of your content.

That would be an interesting pro-con list. The FX rifles are more expensive, and internally have more possible failure points. .177 caliber isn't FX's primary design focus. I've had good luck with my .177 Wildcat, but have chatted with others who found it hard to tune for. The Vixen is lighter. FX wins the shot count and power potential platform, is designed for more tuning options and intended for caliber changes. If you want light and just want to shoot and not tune, I'd say Vixen. If you want the adjustability and can handle the extra pound or two, then look to a Wildcat or Maverick. There's nothing wrong with having lots of choices, unless you don't pick and do nothing.

It's an M6 screw. The problem with a video (I have two on the original version of the grip) is that most of the action takes place down inside the grip where you can't actually see anything while you are doing the work. The key is to go slow and take it easy so you don't strip anything out.
